The mobility of people is now firmly recognised as a key factor in shaping society today, but the relationship between migration and societal change is only partly understood. The migration process is driven by social, economic, political and other forces and evolves in complex interaction with political decision-making, networks, brokers and infrastructures. It has also been acknowledged that the notion of migration includes integration or exclusion on all levels of society, the labour market, the impact on those left in the homeland, and other issues that arise from the experiences en route and on arrival.

The Oxford at Saïd seminar brings together researchers from economics, sociology and geography who research the multi-level forces shaping current and future migration processes and whose work highlights their socioeconomic and environmental impact on regional, national and global level.

The seminar will be followed by a drinks reception. Students and staff from the University of Oxford, as well as professionals are warmly invited to attend.
