IMI Senior Researcher Hein de Haas has won a prize for his article on 'migration as emancipation?' in the journal Oxford Development Studies

Hein de Haas and his co-author Aleida van Rooij have won a prize for their article 'Migration as Emancipation? The Impact of Internal and International Migration on the Position of Women Left Behind in Rural Morocco' (Oxford Development Studies 38.1: 43-62).

The Board of the Oxford Development Studies journal awards the £500 prize annually to honour the memory of Professor Sanjaya Lall, a global authority on development economics and a member of Queen Elizabeth House (the Oxford Department of International Development) until his death in 2005.
