On 18 March 2011 IMI’s ESRC Post-Doctoral Fellow Alan Gamlen led a seminar with Professor Steven Vertovec (of the Max-Planck Institute) at the United Nations Population Division in New York

Some twenty people attended the session, including senior representatives from the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs, the United Nations Development Programme, the United Nations Population Fund and other migration-related organisations including the International Organization for Migration.

Alan Gamlen and Professor Vertovec (Director of the Max Planck Institute for the Study of Religious and Ethnic Diversity) presented novel graphical software tools for visualizing international migration created by the Max Planck Institute and utilizing data from the World Bank and the United Nations Population Division.
