IMI warmly welcomes back Gunvor Jónsson, who rejoins the department as Departmental Lecturer in Migration and Development from 1st September. Formerly an IMI Researcher, who worked on IMI’s African Migrations Programme and on projects including African Perspectives on Human Mobility, Mobility in the African Great Lakes, and Theorizing the Evolution of European Migration Systems (THEMIS), Gunvor will teach on the MSc in Migration Studies programme.
Gunvor’s doctoral thesis in Anthropology (SOAS) focuses on Malian women in Dakar, the Senegalese capital. It examines the mobilities and place-making, economic activities, and gendered identities of both settled market women and shuttle traders travelling to and from Mali.
