In this paper, author Simona Vezzoli focuses on three periods of time in Guyana to examine the role of the Guyanese government and policy, as well as process of independence and border control have affected emigration. Vezzoli also considers the impact of policies of main destination countries of Britain, Canada and the United States to provide a comprehensive picture of migration in Guyana.
