Emanuela Paoletti

Emanuela is currently working with UNHCR in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. She joined UNHCR in 2011 and has worked in Tunisia, Libya and Jordan. She is also serving as Associate Editor of the journal Migration Studies. Before joining UNHCR Emanuela was Research Officer at the RSC working on the Deportation and Citizenship project with Matthew Gibney and Bridget Anderson and subsequently at the International Migration Institute (IMI) with Hein de Haas where she provided assistance on the Global Migration Futures project. Previously, Emanuela worked at DAI Europe, a private economic development consultancy based in London. She also worked in Brussels first at the European Commission and then as a Consultant on for the Italian National Agency for Public Administration. Emanuela completed her PhD at the RSC. Her doctoral research focused on the agreements on migration between Italy and Libya has appeared in peer-reviewed journals including Political Studies and the Journal of North Africa Studies. She is also author of 'Migration of Power and North-South Relations: The Case of Italy and Libya' published with Palgrave Macmillan. Emanuela obtained her undergraduate degree in 2002 from the University of Wales, Aberystwyth and in 2003 she completed the Master in Development Management at the London School of Economics.
