Greta Semplici
- University of Oxford
Greta is a DPhil candidate at the Oxford Department of International Development (ODID). She holds a Master degree in “Development Economics” from the University of Florence (2014) and a BA in “Development Economics and International Cooperation” from the University of Florence (2011). Before starting the PhD she worked as M&E consultant for FAO-Somalia. Her DPhil thesis is an ethnographic study of dry-lands’ resilience primarily from the perspective of mobile pastoral communities. The analysis of the desert she proposes explores a broader concept of mobility (economic, cultural, social, spiritual and environmental) to understand resilience strategies from the herders' point of view. Her broad research interests lie on pastoralism, dry-lands, resilience, migration and displacement and mixed-method research.
