Kerilyn Schewel

Kerilyn Schewel is a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Amsterdam. Her research focuses on how the social changes associated with human and economic development impact migration aspirations and behavior. She has carried out extensive fieldwork in Ethiopia and published on themes related to migration theory, immobility, education and gender. 
Kerilyn currently manages the Migration as Development (MADE) project at the University of Amsterdam, funded by the European Research Council. She holds a PhD in Sociology from the University of Amsterdam, an MSc in Migration Studies from the University of Oxford, and a BA in Psychology from the University of Virginia.
