A workshop to further strengthen migration research within Africa by bringing together scholars from across the continent and discussing innovative methodological approaches to migration research.

Following up from the first African Migrations Workshop held in September 2007, this workshop included presentations by early-career African scholars, alongside sessions on conceptual and empirical aspects of research, a practical session on the use of methods and documentary film screening.

The workshop also included presentations from IMI's partners in the African Perspectives on Human Mobility project: overviews of national migration trends and research based on literature reviews in their respective countries plus their proposals for empirical research to be conducted in 2009.
