The Ramphal Centre in London established the Ramphal Commission for Migration and Development to advise Commonwealth leaders and governments on how migration can contribute to the growth of developing countries

They commissioned the International Migration Institute (IMI) to produce the first of three interim reports which will lead up to a consolidated report for Commonwealth leaders to consider at a meeting in October 2011.

IMI Associate Alan Gamlen is the author of this report, which makes a series of recommendations in the areas such as the role of diasporas, the brain drain, and remittance flows.
