Six members of the Oxford Department of International Development ran the Oxford Half Marathon on Sunday 9 October, raising £1424.90 for Asylum Welcome. The Oxford-based charity welcomes asylum seekers, refugees and detainees who have fled persecution and danger in their own countries and seek refuge in Oxford and Oxfordshire.

Race day dawned on a beautiful sunny autumn morning, and the team enjoyed the support of a fantastic crowd. With a combined race time of 9 hours, 13 minutes and 19 seconds, the team thoroughly enjoyed the experience of what was for some a first half marathon, and for others the achievement of a new personal best.

The six runners - Alex Betts (not pictured above), Mathias Czaika, Marie Godin, Paul Kellner, Robtel Neajai Pailey and Jenny Peebles - thank everyone who provided support and encouragement, and in particular all those who gave support through sponsorship.
